Kitchen grout yellows because cooking oil becomes a film, then a magnet for dust. A baking-soda-and-vinegar volcano is satisfying and weak. The fizz is acid plus base canceling each other out. What’s left is a salty mess in a porous line.
A better home holding pattern
Wipe spills the day they happen. A drop of dish soap on a damp cloth for the glaze. Stay off colored grout with anything you wouldn’t put on wool—no oven cleaner, no powdered abrasive that scratches the tile next to the line.
The actual reset
We degrease with the right pH, agitate, and extract. Then a clean-water pass so you’re not walking on surfactant. If you cook a lot, budget a clean more often than the guest bath. Sealer after a degrease slows the next yellowing. It does not make grout stain-proof under a deep fryer.
