Red sauce looks like it sits on the tile. The oil and pigment wick into grout. That’s why a wiped floor still shows a pink grid the next morning.
Tonight
- Blot. Rubbing drives pigment sideways.
- A drop of dish soap in cool water on the glaze only.
- Don’t hit it with bleach. Tomato plus bleach is a chemistry experiment you don’t need, and bleach spots grout.
When the pink stays
Porous grout holds oil. We use a degreasing step, then extraction, not a coat of white paint in a marker. If the grout was never sealed, say so—we’ll clean, dry, and seal so the next drop of marinara is a wipe, not a project. Plant-based degreasers are available when you want lower-odor chemistry; “natural” is not automatically stronger. The extraction is what removes the sauce.
When you are ready for a real reset, start with tile and grout cleaning.
