Red Wine on Tile and Grout: Blot, Cool Rinse, Then Extract

Wine on a kitchen or dining tile is two jobs. The glaze often releases with a blot and a cool rinse. The grout behaves more like fabric.

Immediate

  1. Blot—white towels, no colored paper that sheds dye.
  2. Cool water rinse. Heat is not your friend with tannin.
  3. No salt mound, no boiling-water folklore, no powdered abrasive on polished porcelain.

If the grout is still pink after it dries, the pigment is in the pore. We extract. A grout colorant is a last resort after a real clean, not a first coat over wine. Sealed grout gives you a longer blot window next time. Unsealed grout from 1998 does not.

When you are ready for a real reset, start with tile and grout cleaning.
