Pine sap on a sofa is the same chemistry problem as sap on wool—plus zippers, welt cords, and factory finishes. A citrus solvent that works on a boot can print a ring on acrylic velvet.
If the blob is small: freeze-and-lift what you can (ice in a bag, then a dull scrape), then stop. Don’t soak the arm. Enzymatic products help some organic soils; pitch is resinous. We test a seam, isolate the sap, and rinse so leftover solvent doesn’t become a dirt magnet.
Prevention is ugly and effective: a throw on the car seat and the sofa during firewood season.
