Somebody walked the grill into the house, or the patio carpet under the smoker caught a drip. Grease looks small and then becomes a magnet for everything else.
First pass
- Blot. Don’t rub a wider pizza.
- A tiny amount of dish soap on a damp cloth can help the surface. A pour of soap becomes residue you will fight for months.
- No oven cleaner. No boiling water.
We pretreat with chemistry that breaks oil, then extract. Enzymes help when food protein is in the mix; they are not a complete degrease by themselves. If the carpet is outdoor polypropylene, say so—different fiber, different heat tolerance. The job is done when the spot is not slick and not a dirt bullseye two weeks later.
When you are ready for a real reset, start with carpet cleaning.
